Your people praise you, O Lord.
As points of light,
Scattered about
The surface of the Earth.
Together with angelic choirs,
That dot the firmament,
Your children sing.
With fish, and bird,
With rivers and seas,
With mountains,
And heavenly heights,
Creation sings in chorus,
Affirmation,
Acclamation,
And affection,
In sanctifying hosannas,
That fall as bountiful rain,
To water man and beast
With fruitful exaltation,
Multipling our delight,
As we magnify our God.
We are your mothers,
Fathers, sisters,
Brothers, friends
Of Your fold,
Returning praise,
And worship due
The Most High Lord
Of all creation.

Beautiful! I take it you’re basically writing your own psalms?
I love that. You made me laugh.
I meant that seem to be imitating the language and style of the biblical psalms. (And you’re doing well at it!)
Thank you, Evan. I pray the Office of Readings and evening and night prayer, and I think that prayer rhythm and tone just stays with a person in the background of their thought. Sometimes when I listen in prayer, I realize it’s prayer, and that’s the beginning of my listening more deeply and following the thought to the end of my prayer poem or “psalm” as it may be.
