“Over In A Sigh”–Life on Planet Earth

The Anchoress writes:

It’s good to remember that our time on earth is short.  — that, as Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton said, “we are made for eternity” and not just for our brief sojourn, here. Read more here.

Psalm 90

Our span is seventy years,
or eighty for those who are strong.

And most of these are emptiness and pain.
They pass swiftly and we are gone.
Who understands the power of your anger
and fears the strength of your fury?

Make us know the shortness of our life
that we may gain wisdom of heart.

And while your here please say this prayer to St. Michael for Foxtrot Battery and all our military men and women around the world.  These are dangerous times!

Michael, Michael of the morning,
Fresh chord of Heaven adorning,
Keep me safe today,
And in time of temptation
Drive the devil away.
Amen.

On a Visit of the Pilgrim Virgin

Pick me up, dear Mother
Your visit means so much to me.
O, how I need a mother.

I gaze at your image,
And you engrave it on my heart.
The beating of my heart,
Reminds me of my mortality,
And how you were
At a moment in time, Mary,
The young virgin with Child, in Nazareth,
Living life on earth
As I do now.

O,  how I wish to live
In your purity
And simplicity of heart.

Here I am
At your feet in supplication,
Pleading peace,
That I might live
In the spirit of Shalom.

Here is my kiss.
Remember me,
As You gaze on your Son.
Engrave my name upon His heart,
As  your fire of love blazes
In His presence.
I am love,
Awaiting the embrace of Love.

Seeing is Believing? What Do You See?

While bicycling, I came upon this tree.

I was stopped in my tracks by what I saw.

On my next ride , I took this  photograph.

What, if anything other than a tree, do you see?

Scourging and Crucifixion imaged in living tree

Flowers and Drunken Bees

Flowers in the rain
Petals open to sustain

Life that is and is to be
Crouched in hidden expectancy

Bees by colors in delight,
Arrested, nay, beguiled, alight.

To sip and gather on furry feet
Nectar and pollen of life so sweet.

Flower to flower in drunken run
Dance the mystery now begun.

Patriotic Blessing

The little boy in this photo carried this American flag with him up to communion at this morning’s Mass. What a blessing!

The caption reads:

Black ribbons tied to a metal cross flutter in the wind on a hilltop above the mass grave site where many thousands of earthquake victims are buried, February 21, 2010 in Titanyen, Haiti. Bodies have arrived every day since last month’s 7.0 earthquake killed more than 200,000 people and left 1.2 million homeless. Called Haiti’s ‘Valley of Death.’

Rallying Point for Citizens

InstaPundit on behalf of Simon Jester:

Here is where we could use your help. Submit your t-shirt ideas. Send us articles about dumb government. Even send us pictures of you and your neighbors at a tea party, esp. if you are sporting a Simon Jester! We will publish your pictures down there in the gallery, investigate your articles and give our take on them, and some new designs are already in the works. We aim to be a source of information and a rallying point for citizens who love the liberty inherent in all men and codified in our founding documents.
