Dreams Dreamt Before

Oh, I’ve waken to new sunshine

Of dawns risen o’er the hills.

I’ve swum in quivering rivers,

And climbed in flight as gulls.

I’ve shown bright with each moonlight

And fallen with each star.

I’ve feathered clouds with soft down

And sprinkled rain afar.

I’ve snuggled to a blade of grass

And clutched a rose as dew.

I’ve painted rainbows ‘cross the sky,

And lavished them with hue.

I’ve suckled sweetness from a bloom,

And fluttered, free to soar.

I’ve slept beneath the Tree of Life

And dreamt these dreams before.

I Dream of Heaven

Night and day, I dream of heaven.

O, not the dream that slumber brings,

that mirage that is tortuous,

with struggles and comings and goings,

jumbles and journeys

taking me far, far from home.

No, I speak now of the dream of my heart.

I dream of heaven, the cry of my heart.

With longing and yearning and surety of soul,

I labor in love for a home that I know.

Through all life’s long journey,

my days are replete

with a pilgrim’s desire,

that sheds light ‘to my feet.

Though weary, and broken, I no longer doubt,

That all heaven is waiting to welcome with shout,

one miserable sinner, it can’t do without.

Question Your Dreams

There are people I know and some I love who love and live by the “Follow your passion,” “Live your dream” “Make your heart sing” banality that doesn’t exactly float my boat. I love to stop and smell the roses so long as you don’t stay stopped!  I like to know where I’m going and why. Some people are happy with promises of HOPE and CHANGE period! …..No, how? No, why? No, at what cost?

Sometimes the catchy slog is just sop. It may be time to “Follow the crowd…and go the other way!”

The Anchoress came up with this from American Digest.  It’s well worth watching all the way to the end, believe me.  Mike Rowe of “DIRTY JOBS” fame knows more than manure and sewage.

He says somewhere in this piece, “We’ve declared war on work” and we accepted as fact things that need to be challenged.  The mainstream media, tv boards room decisions and slants , inane sit-coms have indoctrinated us so heaven is hype and a latte or iphone = heaven.  Just watch Mike and listen up a bit (no place for the squeamish.)

Blogging for Mental Health

If I think I have control of the day, I have only to wake up to dash my delusion.  Even my dreams are out of control.  I lie there thinking, what was that all about?  So often the dreamscape is far away from home and the object of the exercise seems to be figuring out how will I ever get back home.  There are buses without destination markers, trains that I board only to realize they are not going where I thought.  There are people mad at me because I am late or not where they want me to be.  And through it all, I’m trying so hard.  As anxious as these dreams reveal me to be,  they are so much better than those in which I’ve forgotten a #2 pencil with which to take the Regents Exam.  That’s a New Yorker’s nightmare!
